In the midst of a war between two opposing factions, the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and the Frontier Militia, for the control of "The Frontier" (a region of star systems rich in natural resources), a Militia rifleman named Jack Cooper gains control over BT-7274, a powerful "Titan" unit, and has to carry on the original mission of its previous owner: to rendezvous with Militia's Major Anderson, whose last known location is an IMC laboratory.
There is nothing other on this earth that even comes close to the Titanfall franchise. Coming home from school in 2014, on the brand new Xbox One i got for Christmas, mtn dew and Cheetos in hand, to play Titanfall. Fast forward 2 short years, and Respawn births the greatest game, ever. Respawn, in its beginnings, started off as grouping of developers and visionaries that used to work on the COD franchise, and came together to create this wondrous galaxy of many frontiers. The game itself strikes many resemblances to things like COD, Halo, Destiny, Quake, and even Star Wars. First off, the campaign. A gripping 6 hours of gameplay that you will play over, and over, and over again. You really do start to believe that you are Pilot Jack Cooper, going through the training, and being immediately thrust into combat, and immediately introduced to your new best friend ever, BT. With you as the player being able to choose what Jack says (even though you're only given 2 choices), you never realize that you never really get to pick your own path in this campaign, but you never needed to. Everything in the story is very easily digestible and easy to follow, so the player has no questions on what they're doing, or why they're doing it. Respawn LOVES taking advantage of your relationship with BT (and BD-1 in JFO,) to manipulate your emotions in every way. They do not have to force any feeling about him down your throat, as everything you do together and how you interact builds such a camaraderie and friendship between you and a very matter of fact talking robot killing machine. The level design for each area is superior, with no plot holes, or obvious overstepping. The way that the player has to interact with the environment around them is revolutionary, and a whole game within itself. (basically all of ash's testing facility.) And the way that all of the real characters, be it allies, enemies, leaders or enemy bosses, are portrayed gives you a clear cut opinion and understanding of the war between the Militia and the IMC, especially when you get to learn why certain people are fighting in the first place. After a while, you do really feel as if you know each character personally, as either they're trying to aid you, or kill you. Plus, the placement of the humor within the story line is always natural, and pays off. Like a good Norm MacDonald joke. Without giving any spoilers, anyone who has completed the campaign knows how it grips you and throws you around like tossed salad. I want to take a moment and appreciate the music, quickly. Stephen Barton is a musical mastermind. The roughly 1 hour of titanfall music he composed, is perfect down to every second. Most people will play through the game, and not have any statements, or even remember anything about standout pieces of music, or big musical moments in the game. Multiplayer, or campaign. But, when they go and listen to it on its own, they can sing every note and tell you what music was where. This is perfect video game composition, where it is so engrained into the gaming experience, you never ever think of it as standing out, which is how it is supposed to be. He also fucking KILLED the scoring on Jedi Fallen Order & Survivor. Now, multiplayer / gameplay. This is the real selling point / bread and butter of Titanfall 2. It is of course, not your typical first person shooter. Just the original Titanfall idea of these super advanced pilot killing machines running around murdering everything in their path only to 2 seconds later, phone in a giant titan machine of death. The game is centered around the players mechanics. Mechanics, Mechanics, Mechanics. The intentional high mobility and high TTK gives players SO many options on how they want to play, with every combination of ability, gun, grenade, upgrade, special ability, boost , etc. You have to play it, to understand. There is no words that can explain the amalgamation of everything titanfall has to offer, you just have to experience it. The titanfall franchise has spawned such a beautiful community, that i am proud to say that in this year 2024, will be going 10 years strong. 10 years of many lives, my own included, filled with pure ecstasy. Peace out pilots. .--- .- -.-. -.- ..--..

This is a pretty fun and inventive FPS game, however my main issue with it is they give you all these really cool movement abilities then force you into this clunky ass robot which moves like shit.

Words cannot describe how much I love this game. The movement is super satisfying and quick, the gunplay is exquisite, and the map design in both the campaign and multiplayer is perfectly designed for the high-octane combat. The campaign, while short, is excellent. The story does not have a single bad moment. The characters are very well written, especially your Titan companion, BT-7274; over the course of the campaign you grow to love him more and more. I have beaten the campaign four times, once on normal difficulty, twice on hard, and once on master, and when this game gets difficult, it gets brutally difficult. Despite this, nothing feels unfair and it's almost always your fault when you die. The multiplayer is currently broken thanks to Respawn's negligence, but installing the Northstar mod allows you to play on community hosted servers.
Overall, this game is excellent and I recommend that everyone tries it out.

My favorite game of all time. The gameplay is impeccable. I have more hours playing Titanfall 2 multiplayer than probably any other game. There is nothing finer in life than listening to music and playing Titanfall in PSVR. I have more hours outside of PSVR, but I've probably played at least 100 hours in.

A few nice ideas like the parcour things that are well made, but most things are boring and generic as fuck as expected from EA. Boss battles with the mechs are really clunky and annoying. I wanted to try to like it, but the game just doesn't do it for me.
It's like SFV at launch. It had nothing outside of story mode and online multiplayer. But, at least Capcom saved it with Arcade Edition, while Respawn just abandoned Titanfall to work on Jedi Survivor and Apex Legend.
Don't get me wrong, this is by no means a bad game, I actually think this is hands down, the best game to introduce movement shooters for newcomers (excluding Quake and DOOM). The campaign's great as it is but I can't see myself coming back to the multiplayer mode when there's nothing but TDM (and slight variations of it) and virtually no USG or extra content to keep things fresh.
Good thing I don't care about team based multiplayer whatsoever. Hence why I want a 1v1 mode. Really my rating comes entirely just from the single player.
The first Titanfall has been entirely forgotten about and has been rendered obsolete by this game.
