Loved this game when it came out; tried picking it up again in 2020 (on a 1440p monitor) and found out it just wasn't compatible for my resolution or something.
This game control scheme is seriously flawed. All types of attacks are done with the same button, which makes it frustrating to platform and fight enemies at the same time. Kicking enemies, for example, requires the player to stand still, and using the knife requires moving towards the enemy. It's just too easy to mess up your strategy because of this (you might even accidentally dash forwards and fucking fall into a pit).
The movement can be really floaty and imprecise, too. Besides, touching a buzzsaw and other objects will send you flying uncontrollably throughout the screen. The worst part is you can't go past enemies: you actually have to kill them or push them. Sometimes I wish it was just the platforming sections, as the enemies are the worst part of the game.
Some of the levels are really challenging and clever, but there are also some very cheap mechanics (slippery platforms) and plain unfair sections, which are more based on memory than precision.
Finally, what's up with the music? It's seriously some of the most boring, repetitive and annoying pieces of garbage I've heard.
Thanks for expressing what I thought of this game in a much more articulate way than I did in my now deleted comments. God I was so pissed off. 85% positive on Steam my ass.
A game that is difficult at first but becomes easier with time. I really like the challenge and the unique fighting style that I haven't felt with any game before or since. If you think unique controls and gameplay for a fighting platformer sound interesting at all, definitely pick this one up
