The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone

Modern retelling of Faust, starring Mephistopheles and David Beckham... an immense tragedy.

Almost every complain I raised about Witcher 3 was addressed in this expansion. Boring antagonist? The one in HoS is anything but that! Too easy? Now even if you are on very high level, the fights will still be somewhat challenging.. The final "fight" is also more interesting, although it could also be a little irritating.

There are many good things in this expansion: interesting and heartbreaking story, which introduces many unforgettable characters, clever and scary antagonist, and you also meet an old acquaintance. Missions are imaginative, interesting and challenging. Fights are also a little more difficult than in the base game. Nothing too hard, but there are harder even if Geralt is on a very high level. You are also meeting an old friend (Shani) who I already mentioned and it doesn't feel forced or anything, this person has a good reason to be where she is.

Hearts of Stone is a perfect expansion. It has it's own atmosphere, the story is moving, but also sometimes funny and it's pretty long. In my opinion it's better than main game. Highly recommended

Hearts of Stone is the first big DLC to release for Witcher III and overall it is pretty solid. It offers completely different characters, gives you access to new parts of the map, and it has a good amount of side content. It has some pretty memorable moments, for instance there is a point where you let a ghost possess your body then give him a night out at a party to have fun and mess around plus try to hit on one of your girls. And plus they bring Shani back, who was missing for some reason in the 2nd game and the main story of the 3rd game. Hearts of Stone might not be on the same level as the main game, but then again, this DLC is still better than most DLC's you get these days, it adds about an extra 12 or so hours if you explore and do all the side content, has a good amount of new enemies and bosses, plus has an interesting enough story. I guess my only real complaint is the difficulty is pretty high and assuming you've beaten the main game and all the side quests, you'll still have trouble with this, but at the same time, I guess that is somewhat refreshing in a way since later in Witcher 3 I was cruising through all the quests on hard difficulty simply due to being a high level from all the side quests I did.

I don't care about Yennefer or Triss. I wanted to mary Chani. Damn goodbyes...

I invested 90 hours in the base game and it was definitly a great experience, but i just couldnt really get into this dlc at all. The characters are all pretty unlikable for me, and though the level design is diverse, it just doesnt feel good to play. The main antagonists are seemingly godlike and yet the ending fight against him is really underwhelming.

Honestly though i think the biggest culprit is me, i feel like im burned out of the series. Everytime a combat encounter starts i just sigh, and cutscenes seem to take a huge amount of time for me.
