Walking simulator about an abandoned hotel that's definitely in Montana and not Colorado, and definitely isn't based on The Overlook Hotel. Some thoughts:
+ Environment genuinely pretty cool. Think 'Gone Home,' it's somewhat stylized as far as real places go, but not that stylized, and there's a good amount of detail to make this plausibly a hotel. + Environmental storytelling pretty good. The main character's dead father was an astrophysicist who came to believe (correctly) that there's a ghost haunting the hotel. When our protagonist goes into his bedroom (left apparently as it was when he was alive), she finds stacks of books about astrophysics, as well as stacks of books on esoteric phenomena, such as occult anatomy. Damn cool detail that's not mentioned in any of the voice lines, but is a plausible route for a scientifically minded man who observes supernatural phenomena he can't explain through mainstream science - Voice actors fine, voice direction and writing bad - Translation bad. Given the surnames from the credits, I think it was developed by an Italian studio. You can pick up objects in the game (again, a la Gone Home), and a lot of the objects are books, and I'm pretty sure every single book I found had a translation error and/or typo somewhere. You're constantly reminded that you're playing a game built in a different language, and for a genre that thrives on immersion, that's a huge point against
Not really something I'd recommend unless you really like walking simulators. Also the ending is probably the weakest part of an already pretty weak story

Slow but short walking simulator, inspired by both supernatural and psychological horror. The atmosphere made me think of The Shining meets Lake Mungo. (Which is pretty cool) The environments are uncanny and fun to explore. There are some genuinely tense moments throughout. The story seemed interesting but weakened near the end. I also found the way they handled the themes and characters very questionable.
