The Looker

I haven't played The Witness so I can't comment on whether this is an effective parody or not. It reminded me of Myst but perhaps that just reflects on my limited knowledge of mystery puzzle games.

In any case, I found it fun and sometimes quite funny with a few mild challenges. I liked the look of the place but wish there were more ways to interact. I didn't always like the puzzles since many were too easy or had shortcuts or involved tricks that are hard to guess unless you know the mentality of the designer.

Overall, it felt a bit too short without much development or interaction. It was also ambiguous at times whether certain things were important or not. And there are many absurd or strange quotes. But it was generally fun for a couple of hours of exploration. More interaction and types of puzzles could have made it even better.

A very competent (and quite funny) parody of The Witness, which manages to use its core mechanic of drawing a straight line from A to B surprisingly well? There's puzzles which flop, but the game was so short that they don't really become too painful. The maze was kind of a strange addition for a game about ignoring a puzzle's walls and boundaries, but I got through it fine. The Looker manages to parodize The Witness's kinda-pretentious feel and lonely, monotonous landscape without being mean-spirited. For a free-to-play single-player parody game, I'd say this is one of the better ones.
