The Emperor's New Groove

We have another mediocre Disney tie in game to look at here, although this one use Spyro as its blueprint which means that its way better than most of its contemporaries especially considering it does a good job in copying the formula for its success.

There's not much to talk about with the controls, Kuzco controls exactly like Spyro does (minus the gliding of course) and you can consider his turtle, frog and bunny forms a nod to Spyro’s friends from year of the dragon even if they control nothing like those guys do in that game. The levels design is decent and takes full advantage of whichever form Kuzco is in, although the graphics aren't very good which is sadly standard for Disney tie ins as they're usually the bare minimum when it comes to gaming. Also, disappointing here is the humour as it's largely meta commentary on how a game plays out which was fairly tiresome back in the day and is even worse now in the internet age where that’s the only acceptable form of humour Twitter will let anyone use. This is such a disappointment considering the fact the film had tons of different forms of humour which yes did include meta commentary, but also relied on character chemistry which this game sadly lacks. I guess one way this game isn't like the other Disney tie ins is that it doesn't have superfluous collectibles, coins being the only thing to collect rather than letters spelling out our heroes name or random trinkets that unlock bonus content.

It's a standard platformer with a semi likeable lead (that can use a lesson or two in shutting up) and a good blueprint from a great game to build its campaign in, could've been better but far from Disney’s worst.
