The Binding of Isaac: Repentance

Visual storytelling weaved into game design in a way that is urgent and inconspicuous, yet simultaneously unrelenting and unpredictable. Will Isaac be able to escape today? It's a dumb question. I mean, you're digging down the entire time. This was never a world he was meant to leave, but more so a world that had left him there. Youth trauma is eternal. There is never a world you can live in again other than the one you were introduced to. You show a child hell, they'll be there forever. And forever Isaac will remain. What a privilege it is to breathe.

I was kinda burned out on Isaac before this released, so I just started playing this about a month ago. The balancing of the game alongside the addition of antibirth mod content, and over doubling the character count makes this possibly more ambitious than the initial release of Rebirth. Gone are the days of Habit and Scapula breaks, gone is the assumption that bombs will give a near infinite of money from donation machines, and it's actually pretty good for the game's health. Sure, it's a hell of a learning curve for anyone who played all the prior versions of the game, but looking back, I'm not sure 6 hour breaking runs should happen every other run. Some of the new tainted characters do feel a bit too much like goofy challenge runs in my opinion, especially Eden. But for the regular characters, now it feels like I can do a standard run and have a heck of a lot more fun and choice in the matter. Though giving The Lost a knockoff D6 wasn't too interesting of a choice. Far better than not imo.

somehow, in some sort of way, edmund mcmillen managed to both fix most of the bullshit added in Afterbirth+ and add a lot of content.
it's worth noting that most of the new content isn't a new creation, but it's instead an addition from Antibirth, one of Isaac's biggest mods whose content was decided to be added in the base game.

most of the bullshit items added in Afterbirth+ were fixed (Broken Modem), reworked (D-Infinity) or buffed (Backstabber being one of the most recent).
the game now has tainted characters, which often add new gimmicks to the game and, for the most part, are more entertaining than their original counterparts (except Tainted Eden, because its gimmick is just beyond bad).

the new angel items are very powerful, which 1) has changed the meta of the game, and 2) is constantly being balanced.

the new ending is beautiful.
most things are fixed.
everyone's happy.

I dont like playing this game but watching other people play it is so cool. i really dont know why i dont like playing it but its probably just a time thing
