Relaxing LucasArt-style graphic adventure with a unique atmosphere but an extremely trivial plot. The Switch porting looks good graphically, even though it can be hard to spot the entrances to some of the rooms without a mouse.

Haven't been this disappointed by a game in a while. It's highly lauded in ADV circles but I always got those "person defending Chrono Cross without mentioning the gameplay" vibes. Great music, art direction / graphics, etc, beneath that is something painfully generic
The story's nice and all but spending so much of the game backtracking and watching Kate take her sweet fucking time with opening doors and climbing stairs gets old by the time you're out of the first area
The only thing I hate about this are the mobile ports. The original versions weren't technical marvels, but removing 'non-essential' content and other alterations just made this feel jankier.
Still, I come back to this game for this feeling of adventure I'm yet to find anywhere else. The desolation, characters living in their past, and this downward spiral of places remote to Kate's life and all her previous endeavors, her changes throughout the story as well.
But on a serious note, it annoyed me too when I played that back in the day
