Being one of the most influental 2d platforming games "Super Mario World" has managed to hold up its status through all these years. It's really hard to believe the game was released in 1990 and despite of its age, "Super Mario World" is still very entertaining. "Super Mario World" was also the first game that introduced Mario's green dinosaur pet Yoshi. Even though many people have beaten the game dozens of times the levels simply don't get old. Secondly, the whole entirety has been upgraded since "Super Mario Bros. 3" which means the graphics are 16-bit, the music quality is crystal clear and Mario's moves have become easier and once again more versatile. The game offers tens of different levels which most of them are hidden. To see every possible level Mario has to find hidden keys to use alternative routes. During the process Mario has to fight Bowser's offspring to reach Bowser's castle.
Despite of its Nintendo quality the game feels a rather easy. It doesn't take that long if Mario uses shortcuts to reach Bowser. Another thing is the controls. If comparing the three classic NES "Super Mario Bros. games these old games felt harder. Easy way to beat a level is to use the magic scarf to fly as high as possible, skipping all the action.
"Super Mario World" contains many beloved Mario songs conducted by the main Nintendo composer 近藤浩治 [Koji Kondo]. The music is briskier than ever and the music adds more percussion elements if Mario rides Yoshi during the game. However, i would still have to admit the soundtrack of "Super Mario World" isn't 近藤浩治 [Koji Kondo]'s best (Mario) works but nevertheless the music quality was revolutionary in the early 16-bit era due to newer possibilities to use Nintendo's new Super Nintendo Entertainment System console.

I just played/beat this for the first time (not 100%), and it really feels like a game that will shine on future playthroughs when I'm more able to really master the movement. I wasn't able to consistently achieve cape flight until the very end of the game, which I finally got the hang of while farming lives in Donut Plains 1. I can only imagine the game really opens up with a little bit more mastery of the mechanics and some knowledge of secrets from the get go. For now Mario 3 remains my favorite 2D Mario, but I expect with repeat playthroughs I'll better appreciate this game's looser, more open-ended style
