This is where it's at. This is how you do a space shooter. If you're as into shooters as I've been lately you might notice that Compile is responsible for some of the very very best the genre has to offer, and so far I'm convinced that this is the cream of the crop. Feel free to prove me wrong but I'm positive it doesn't get much better than this.
The game conveys the perfect sense of chaos and speed without feeling unfair. Every level feels completely doable. Once you make out your weapons you feel like you're on top of the world and can crush any of the numerous foes in your way; one hit however and your weapon is downgraded.
This game isn't easy by any means, but it gives a fair, balanced challenge. It's easy to play for a long time without getting a game over which means a lot to me. For someone who's awful at the retro games I love, Space Megaforce is a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I just want to play a good old school game without it wiping the floor with me, and Space Megaforce is damn good.
