Game would be so much better with some tweaks to the gameplay to make it more interesting. The mana system is a completely failed implementation. If they wanted to keep it they needed to make the R1 systems more interesting. Two attack buttons and more work on the directional input attacks (they are almost all poorly done) would’ve gone a long way in that regard. Lean more into DMC combat, it would be fine. RPG customization is also kinda whack, the actual job leveling system ends up being irrelevant for your build, you just get everything eventually. The progression also isn’t actually satisfying, the way all the jobs connect together and you unlock them seems cool but the actual steps along the way don’t feel that impactful and I hate the way the combo modifiers are implemented, it’s so limited. If you could mix and match those like you could the abilities it would be so much more fun. But at least the game is trying stuff! Team ninja games are always just a complete mess but they’re cool
