A six-player game of Steeplechase must have been quite a spectacle in '70s arcades. Picture a column of scrolling, multi-colored horse tracks displayed over a crowd of people packed in like sardines, mashing buttons on the cabinet.
The arcade steeplechase was not a new concept, even in 1975, having already appeared in electro-mechanical games (e.g., Sega's Grand National Race). But Atari's version really captures the essentials in as neat a package as you could want.
Six people, each with one button and one goal. What more is needed?
