On Corneria, the fourth planet of the Lylat system, Andross is driven to madness and nearly destroys the planet using biological weapons. General Pepper exiles Andross to the remote planet Venom. Five years later, Pepper detects suspicious activity on Venom. Pepper hires the Star Fox team (including James McCloud, Peppy Hare, and Pigma Dengar) to investigate. After Pigma betrays the team and Andross captures James, Peppy escapes from Venom and informs McCloud's son Fox about James's fate.
Is there anything I can say about "LylatWars" that hasn't already been said? Short but oh so sweet campaign that cleverly incentivises replays by locking alternate paths not behind choices but behind skill and ingenuity, drawing attention to every facet of the dogfighting and level design. That said, its cinematic qualities have aged a fair bit. The 3DS version is where it's at.

A brilliant, polished and endlessly replayable space shooter, perhaps my favourite of all-time and certainly my favourite in the Starfox series. The presentation, characters and most importantly the controls and handling are all top-notch.

Is Star Fox Nintendo's most popular franchise that only has only truly acclaimed game (this one)? Been thinking today about how every game I've played released after this (Assault, Adventures, Command) have been pretty average and received mixed/average critical reception.
3DS version is slightly different. Some voice acting/lines are better, some are not. I feel it plays a little differently (sometimes i jam lasers on enemies and don't quite get the same kills I expected from the original). Generally speaking, it's not a bad way to play it.
I bet a guy no money, just bragging rights, that I could ace every mission, get the alt title screen, and do it again on Hardmode for the shades in 2 weeks, and they somehow managed to weasel out of it.
wonder how good this would feel on m+k
