SSX on Tour

I mean, it's a fine game. If it were a new IP, I'd be happy with it. The problem is that it's simply a gigantic step back from SSX 3.
The first thing you'll notice is the new notebook aesthetic, which seems to be a product of 2005. It was also used in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (which was coincidentally also the worst game in its series to that point). While this aesthetic fit Tony Hawk decently enough, it feels really strange in SSX, after SSX and SSX Tricky had this futuristic kind of aesthetic in the menus.
The soundtrack, thankfully, is really good. I have no complaints here.

The gameplay, which was absolutely perfected in SSX 3, takes one crucial step backward, making the entire game feel awkward. When doing a monster trick (this game's version of the uber tricks from Tricky and 3), the camera moves right up close to the side of your character. This makes it very difficult to judge where the ground is, likely causing you to eat snow. These camera angles simply don't work for this game, and it's honestly a huge knock against it.
I'd say the career mode and course design are a step back, but that's very minor in comparison. I also liked customising the existing SSX cast in SSX 3 with items designed specifically for them, rather than creating my own character.

About on the same level mechanically as 3, albeit with a different implementation of Uber tricks that distracts too much but provides a new dynamic to proceedings. The problem is the framerate. 30 FPS here makes all the difference, especially since the game doesn't look that great.
