My favourite game… tough, but so well-balanced. The perfect amount of traps, mechanics, and items. The number of approaches one can take to this game - speedlunky, high-scoring etc. - makes it such a treat.

Linking When you mention an album, artist, film, game, label, etc - it's recommended to link to the item the first time you mention it. Doing so will make it easier to search for your post and give it more visibility. To link an item, use the search box above, or find the shortcut that appears on the page that you want to link. You can customize the link name of shortcuts by using the format [Artist12345,Custom Name].

Easily my favorite game ever. No other roguelike I've played has done intrinsic progression as well as this one (maybe spelunky 2, but I have yet to complete it).
If there's one game every game designer should study its this one. A game where almost every single decision the player makes isn't a binary good or bad. It exemplifies Sid Meier's quote about a game being a series of interesting choices.
FWIW 3.7 is still a damn good score for a game on glitchwave. Even if it weren't, would it really matter that people on a niche game review website didn't like it as much? The influence of spelunky reverberates through the soul of the indie roguelike genre like a fucking concert hall.
The GlitchWave average; "Hmmm...sounds like a 3.7"
