Title
As mentioned in the comments, in 2020, I beaten this game for the first time in my ~20 years of knowing and playing this game. Obviously it wasn't daily, but I played it a few dozen times without being able to beat it. This game is really hard man, and not for the right reasons. It's so unbelievably easy to just keep bouncing around without control. The stupid cluckbirds that keep popping out after you do some loop-de-loop makes me seethe too. While I don't have much nice to say about it, it's pretty damn nostalgic, and the first stage isn't too bad all things considered. And when you finally get Sonic to do what you want from time to time, it feels damn rewarding.

You'd think that a sonic the hedgehog themed pinball simulator would be a winning concept for the Sega genesis, evidently the developers didn't as they instead took the pinball elements from the main games and build an entire campaign with this mechanic right down to him needing to run up to the "machine" whenever sonic needs to be launched into it. Speaking of the premise, the in-universe explanation for why sonic needs to use these contraptions is utter ridiculous as it's a way of robotic distracting our hero while he works on his actual plans. I guess there was potential for this game, but it's sadly wasted due to the gimmick being unsustainable for a full game without a decent second mechanic to pick up its slack.

There came I time when Sonic was starting to hit near Mario levels of popularity to the point where Sega started branching off Sonic into other areas similar to what Mario was doing with its educational and novelty games. Sonic Spinball is basically pinball but with a Sonic skin, Sonic is the pinball and you launch him at enemies from the series. Hell I loved Sonic 1 and 2 as a kid but this never really grew on me and was so generic that I forgot most of it, an as a kid I generally was pretty impressionable when it came to games. There are a million pinball games out there and this didn't do anything unique or interesting, and was just a quick cash grab by Sega to capitalize on the peak of Sonic mania.
