It's crazy to me that all multiplayer competitive games get so low rankings when you can spend 100's of hours on them mastering them. All the userbase likes is one-time single player experiences... I like those too, but MP ratings are just unreliable.

Or maybe multiplayer competitive games are just inherently inferior because it's always better to experience Art on your own

I'd attribute it mostly to the toxicity that's so often rife with these games. It can really ruin the experience.

Gonna have to agree with diction here, multiplayer games are very underrated here on average. Like yeah, I prefer single player games for the most part, but some of the most fun I've had playing video games is doing so with my friends.

As for toxicity, that's no fault of the game itself. I agree that it can impact the enjoyment of the game, but I don't see it as a strong enough excuse to warrant how multiplayer games are treated here. Like with SMITE for example, yeah, I kind of hate playing solo queue (mostly because a lot of randoms don't know what teamwork is), but playing with a full party of five is a lot of fun and is where most of my enjoyment of the game comes from. I understand getting a full party together isn't something that's easy to do, but even just playing with one or two other friends is enough to mitigate any of the potential negativity you might have to deal with.

Same. Game is phenomenal in a vaccum but the constant changes and the community is horrible and ruins most of the fun I'd like to have with the game
