Title
Skate 3 improves upon the core Skate gameplay, and, in a vacuum, it feels better than ever. Unfortunately, a skating game is useless if there's nothing good to skate on. Skate 3's new open world, Port Carverton, is far and away worse than Skate 1 and 2's San Vanelona.
Skate 3 is still better in some areas than Skate 2. Skate 3 removes the no-skate zones from the previous two games and the frustration they caused. Skate 3 fixes the godawful walking from Skate 2, and doesn't require you to push objects to complete objectives.

Frustratingly, each Skate game seems to do one thing far better than the other two. Skate 1 has the best campaign objectives if you crave structure but the most primitive controls (obviously), Skate 2 has the best open city to fuck around in but the most terrible objectives ever conceived, and Skate 3 has the best controls and tricks but a very lackluster city in comparison to skate around in.
I can still pop in any of the three games and fuck around for hours, however, and isn't that really all you need?

    i am having such a blast with this game but honestly the music choices are so overwhelmingly mid it can kind of bring down the experience a bit. there's maybe like 7 songs i actually *enjoy* out of them, most of them are just barely tolerable as background music. it all just feels like an incoherent mush of some corporate idea of "skater music"
