This honestly might be the biggest drop off I've ever experienced from a sequel, in terms of personal taste. They pretty much went the exact opposite direction of what I wanted in every possible way, all while introducing a bunch of features and mechanics I want nothing to do with. I hadn't felt as miserable as I did playing this game in a VERY long time, which is a shame considering I loved Salt and Sanctuary. WTF went wrong?
Been seeing so much divisive stuff about this game online. Personally, I've been loving it. 17 hours in and closing in on the end game. I found it really gets its groove once you better understand how the mage hunts work. The co-operative online play is really well integrated, too. Played a bunch of this with a friend and had a blast. I mostly miss the parry from the first game and wish I could level up at obelisks, but otherwise I like how they took such a risk and didn't just replicate the original.
loved the original back in 2016, but this double down on the worst aspects of the first title (with a bigger focus on combat and platforming), introduces weird monster hunter like mechanics that dont work out well in these levels, and just isnt up to par with the current state of top tier metroidvanias
