graphics aged horribly and are really hard to look at, but at the same time, the art style and character designs are just *chef kiss*

HA! dude 2005 was the same year Shadow of the Colossus came out. No one played this on release because it was pushing any technical limitations. It had/has style and vision.

Anyway, the low poly and brutal model stretching in the cinematics will probably always give this game an indisputable charm over the visuals of its sequel for me.

i think visuals aged perfectly, because it has a cartoonish style. it doesn't need too much details. overall, games with this kind of style aged the best, imo. it has that 00s feel, but it's fine. more realistic games from early 00s are the ones that aged poorly visually.

honestly i dont mind the poor textures because everything about the game is incredible and i adore the style to death. the art style has aged very well with its weak graphical fidelity, and i still think this is a near perfect game with the only real complaints going to some of the typical 3d platformer issues.

and yeah half life 2 came out a year before this too, i definitely didnt go into this game expecting outstanding graphics, i was a kid when i heard about this game and ive wanted to sit down and play it through for about a decade and a half. i finally did and i love it.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Psychonauts. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Freudian Psychology most of the jokes will go over a typical player's head.

Platforming sucks, and collect-a-thon elements feel tacked on. I don't know how but despite these, this game is great.

i fucking love the layers of the worlds. and the layers of comedy. this game is all about layers and i loved it. a lot of the folks said this should be a point and click game but platforming gives this it's soul. combat needs some polishing tho

All media that which is described as "Burton-esque" is bad except for this which is better than most (if not all) Tim Burton movies.

The creativity in the worlds here is staggering. Obviously heightened by the art direction, but they really decided to make a statement in every single level. I have yet to play another platform with worlds as interesting in their vision as the ones here. Why do the usual ice level, desert level, and jungle level, when you can have a giant strategy board game, a 1970s disco party, and a Cold War era anti-gravity neighborhood? These people were nuts.
