Many years after "Portal," Chell reawakens at Aperture Science and tries to stop GLADoS once again with the help of Wheatley, who has his own plans for the historical facility.

This is the perfect sequel. They took the first Portal, made the plot crazy, and changed the puzzles entirely. They brought back the old villain in the best way possible and even ended up turning her into a friend! This game felt two or three times longer than the first Portal, and it sucked how short that game was. The whole game is really thrilling and you never know where the story will go next. Just when you think the game is ending, it flips around mid-game. All the newly introduced testing tools are amazing, bridges, goo, anti-gravity rays. Whitley is a brilliant character and GladDos becomes even more brilliant than she already was. The ending is really awesome, the boss fight was so fun and the way you defeat Wheatley is one of the most creative ways I have seen.

One of the OGs, and a catalyst of my personal love for puzzle games. It's an excellent sequel to Portal, and has since inspired many popular puzzle games since. It's a very fun playthrough; the puzzles increment well and build intuitively on new concepts. The story is playful and interesting enough on the first playthrough. It has tons of charm, but that doesn't take-away/distract from the puzzles, which are definitely the focus. Graphics and visuals are relatively simple (it was 2011 bro), but are themed/integrated well. The physics are robust and consistent; it makes solving the puzzles a super fluid process. It really becomes a puzzle-adventure game, the way it introduces new mechanics so intuitively.
Co-op adds SOO much playability too: more mechanics, more complexity, opportunities for teamwork and trolling are abundant lol. There's also a level builder & catalog that are incredibly diverse. It's also a popular speed running game with lots of tricks if you're into that too.
Portal 2 is simply a well-produced and rightly-loved game imho. It'd have a higher rating, but I only give one game a perfect score :p

Really I just could've used more Portal 1. The colored bouncy paint goop I'm personally not a fan of. But I find it inferior to Portal 1, way too long, the humor doesn't really suit me and I'm not the biggest fan of the new gameplay gimmicks. But it's Portal, and it's Valve, so...

Portal 2 was one of the first story games I had completed that wasn't made by Nintendo. It completely changed my perspective entirely on games and opened my eyes. I had an overwhelming feeling like I had missed out on so many single-layer titles and I would go on to start my journey through playing and completing as much titles as possible.
Puzzle games, not my cup of tea. Dialogue driven story games, not my cup of tea. Portal 2 accomplishes this in a way that I just cannot complain about. The witty writing is funny and clever a decade later, aging better than a LOT of humor from the same time. The puzzles are satisfying and absolutely genius and infinitely improve on the puzzles from Portal 1.
The soundtrack is probably the most underrated element of Portal 2 in my opinion, I don't think anyone could really complain about it, but it definitely doesn't get the appreciation. It's great, and even better in the ways that it is applied.
Portal 2 in my opinion, is the greatest game ever made, and the greatest game I've ever played, and my favorite game of all time. I can't think of one thing that I don't like about it. I love coming back to it and it is fun every single time, the story excites me every time and I always notice and try new things in each play through. For what Portal 2 tries to do, it absolutely hits the mark, and just as well as it did 10 years ago.

While I do love the first game, it's short length prevented it from being one of my favourite games of all time. Fortunately, this is something the sequel fixes as it has everything that game has to offer and then some.
Whether you’re playing the single player campaign or it's multiplayer, the best thing about the game is Glados as she's a delight whether she's in her robot or potato form. Her dry sarcastic humour never fails to amuse me largely thanks to her delivery but also due to her character development as she realises how much of a heartless bitch she is both to Chell and her robot minions in each campaign. I also like the true villain of the main campaign Wheatly as he's one of many victims of Glados’s bullshit that gets his revenge by tricking our hero into helping him usurp Glados only to betray them both by sending them falling to the depths of the forgotten facility. The humour doesn't stop there though as we have recordings of the original chairman of Aperture science Cape Johnson scattered throughout the lower levels of the facility which also never fails to put a smile on my face. The fact that the Borealis from half-life 2 appears in these stages is proof that this is in fact a spinoff of the half-life series, although whether valve will marry the two franchises together remains to be seen over a decade later. The gameplay here has been greatly improved over the original as it introduced many new mechanics ranging from gel that affects the abilities of our hero to gadgets from some of Glados’s newer chambers that affect what Chell can use to place her portals on. The story is fairly basic even taking into consideration the multiple Easter eggs from the previous game and half-life 2, it's the humour and gameplay which carries everything along here. As for the multiplayer, it's a ton of fun more so if you’re a dick to your friend or vice versa.
It's one of my favourite games of all time and is an obvious recommendation from yours truly.

recently just replayed this and i’m sorry but the characters/story are such a big step down from the OG portal. wheatley is annoying and not even funny and glados feels less funny too
While I'm no expert on the art and creation of video games, I've always thought of this game as being as perfect and as close to a masterpiece of game design and game writing/storytelling as anything I can imagine. I can remember, more than ten years ago, when I first saw the ending - one of the most extraordinary and cinematic in any video game - and how my jaw literally dropped.
wheatley is literally meant to be annoying. glados was meant to be more serious. did you want more on-the-nose comedy, is that it?
