phenomenal movement, level design, sound design, and soundtrack production all blend together absolutely phenomenally for the ultimate platforming experience. the gameplay is incredibly smooth and fun and the whole style around it is incredibly wacky and charming. while the gameplay does take a bit to get good at, once you've latched onto everything well, piecing everything together and getting every p-rank is super fun and rewarding. a must play.

pizza tower is competently made in every way. i've followed the dev since his first gif posts on Tumblr in the ancient days where Tumblr was still generally a visited site, and saw him decide he was gonna make a game but for real. and now we're here

pizza tower is a slippery, finicky, twitch-reaction speedrunner-oriented game that is designed to be replayed a bunch purely because it knows it's place as a speedrunner game. this is not a general appeal demographic. this is not something you just tell anyone about and expect success with. it's for people who already know what they want, and if you know you know. That's it.

To emphasize this fact, I bought Pizza Tower day 1 to support the artist I've followed for years, and when I beat the game, I got a steam achievement citing I did. I figure, let's see how many people beat it in one sitting, yeah?

90% of people who bought the game had the achievement within 24 hours of the game releasing. 50% had already gotten every secret. This is the group who rates it 5, calling it a Perfect Game. More beasts than men.

i personally never liked wario platformers, despite their interesting experimental designs. nintendo didn't go forward with more because there wasn't much more to experiment on! and pizza tower somewhat proves it by innovating minimally and waxing maximally. for a game that 1:1 copied it's base mechanics from another game, i'm glad there's no references to any Nintendo properties in here.

It's a good game, really. You should absolutely give it a shot if you enjoy fast-paced platformers. But holy shit, the community of 13y/o's surrounding this game is one of the worst I've seen in years. I can't play any online multiplayer game anymore without seeing at least one dumbass in chat roleplaying as the funny Italian chef. Please, instead of talking about the game nonstop in some of the most random places online, go play it. Go talk about it with like-minded maniacs. A competitive FPS match is not the place to shill Pizza Tower. A Reddit thread discussing a completely unrelated game is not the place to shill Pizza Tower. Your estranged uncle's funeral is not the place to shill Pizza Tower.
