This is just like saying you play one Beat Saber songs and you pretty much played them all. The point of these games is to replay them with their given mechanic. And the mechanic in this one is really satisfying.

ignoring the fairly inoffensive music, gameplay is incredibly fun and the semi-annual updates are always really solid with adding content (and theyre still working on more which is always great to hear). i havent touched it since 2020 but apparently they added a whole campaign mode? with the amount of content that the game has right now its definitely worth buying, the levels are satisfying to replay and theres a bunch of additional replay value with the extra content like modifiers and styles.

a level creator akin to what beat saber has would put it toe to toe with that game, but even without it its one of the best vr games out there imo. i bought it for the quest when there were only classic maps but the game where it is right now warrants a full $30

I guess the difference for me is Beat Saber's different songs actually do a good job of mixing up the icon placements to make new song levels feel distinct. Even after playing the Beat Saber campaign and doing lots of DLC song packs, I still find myself surprised at how new levels can throw totally new icon placements at me.

There is nothing like that here. The base levels, the reloaded levels, etc. are all virtually the same: see guy, shoot them to the beat. Sometimes they take 1 hit to kill, others 2, others 4. Pistol whip them if you can. Repeat. It's fun but the non-campaign levels all just feel like one big blur. The big campaigns they added actually felt much more distinctive and unique by adding bosses and new level mechanics. I played them first and then found the original levels so bland and pedestrian by comparison.

It is fun, but I think what makes BS better is the music is much more clearly integrated into the gameplay. I've seen threads on Reddit of people unclear about how they're supposed to play Pistol Whip to the beat, and I think that's a failing of the game's concept.
