Where as many MMORPG titles fumble in the gameplay department, Phantasy Star Online has always done the exact opposite and provided a fun and engaging multiplayer combat experience. Phantasy Star Online 2 does this tenfold and provides players with a gameplay experience that is faster, fluid, and overall more streamlined than previous titles in that same style, which is very refreshing.
To expand on the combat, it's more akin to a character action game than the JRPG inspired combat of Phantasy Star Online. You are able to dodge freely, and all your attacks are overall faster than they've ever been, allowing for combo potential for high damage. It's an incredibly good system which rewards high skill over stats and RNG. This is further expanded on the PvP areas of the game which is even more frantic. The skills your character learns are relatively simple however how you use them is what counts. A ranger can get an orbital strike or the ability to sit on your launcher and ride it.
