honestly the stealth bits at the very end of this one feel poorly executed to me. while I don't mind a jumpscare, the failstates they introduce are an unwelcome addition to the cyclic gameplay. shame cause the rest is excellent as ever.
People always say this is scary and beyond the mild jump scares from pursuers, I cannot tell why they would ever call this scary. Also, this has a great ending. Definitely worth the effort.
Didn't feel this one at all, sadly, even though I completely adored the main game. Feels more like a standard puzzle game without much of what makes OW special. The mystery is small and not very interesting compared to massive parallel mysteries going on in the main game, the atmosphere doesn't have the contrasts that made the main game so iconic, and the space and flying are completely irrelevant.
also once you have to go to the dream areas, the runback becomes incredibly long and exhausting. i was replaying Dark Souls at the same time, and the worst runbacks of that game have nothing on this DLC.
This exact same critique applies to the base game in a way higher degree. Good luck getting past those anglerfishes if you do a completely blind playthrough. You waste easily 10, maybe upwards towards 20 minutes every time those bastards eat you at the trail end there.
yeah, they definitely share the same annoying elements, but in the main game the story and the desire to explore was always enough to drive me forward. plus there's so much variety - if you're stuck in one world, you can take a break and explore something completely different. in DLC the repetitiveness of the runback just hits way harder.
Okay technically there's a second one but 1) it's pretty easy, and 2) I somehow discovered the secret to circumventing it before the game told me lol
Also, this has a great ending. Definitely worth the effort.
