Hangtime is a wacky arcade-style basketball game. So arcade-style, in fact, that it doesn't make any effort to hide the fact that it's literally a port of an arcade game. Other than its impressive Create a Player feature, it's light on features and functionality, with few modes and limited controls. As an arcade game, strategy isn't required--your AI team mate won't even pass you the ball. Throw in artificial difficulty spikes and you've got yourself a successful quarter eater.
Visually, Hangtime is flat-looking and unrefined, though I like the idea of giving the players huge and recognisable heads. The sound and music are ass.
Like in the arcade, there's very brief fun to be had here, but as one of the console's first releases, it's a low-effort, unambitious and unimpressive game.
