I havent played this but from seeing matches and games online I do not really see the appeal. its just really floaty and characters are kind of just throwing out moves. theres not really any defensive options so there are not many levels to the gameplay. imo I think this will have a similar fate to NASB. only difference is that the devs have hella support for esports (2k for 17th place at EVO doubles). but then again i havent played, so I could be wrong
Even though I'm not a big fan of this game at all, I can see the appeal in the meme value. Just the fact Shaggy is in a fighting game is kinda humorous
fwiw I do think this is a better game to play than it is to watch. The visuals are kinda lacking and there's so much happening on the screen at once that it just looks like chaos as a spectator. Which admittedly is a problem for its success as an esport, things need to be legible and exciting to get viewers hooked unless they're really invested in the game
Disagree that there's no defensive options though. It's true that there isn't any blocking, but most characters have some tools to help themselves or their teammate escape trouble. (Armor, stat buffs, platform creation, moves to yank your teammate back, etc.) Plus everyone has so many air resources. Keeping track of what you and your opponent have and positioning yourself accordingly actually does have depth imo
@azdiff i see. i did not really consider all the character specific stuff when i saw considering the defensive options and that makes a lot more sense. and yeah i agree it is pretty hard to watch considering every char has their own unique effect or status thing. but i do thing the lack of having a core shield/block mechanic is really damming to the games' longevity. i should probably pick up the game for myself to see how it feels for my own. bugs does look fun!

plus the ice perk is such an insanely horrible mechanic. in a genre where freedom and expression of movement are a primary factor, limiting it by being slowed on hit by a projectile is so not fun. zoners already aren’t fun to fight but now u get fkn slowed trying to approach too
Ok, i think the game is fun and has a lot of potential.. Two weeks ago i was defending the game here because Glitchwave userbase generally dislikes (for no reason) popular multiplayer games.
BUT this season 1 is a mess, lack of content, a lot of lag and hitboxes feel worse than before. I was very engaged in the game and now i lost interest. Guess i will wait for the hitbox patch (god knows when it will be released).
they said it will hopefully be the next patch i feel like its hard for me to be mad at this game cause the actual dev team is extremely small (the only part of the game that pisses me off is the mmr being kind of shite)
