Following his failure to defeat Liu Kang in the previous Mortal Kombat tournament, the evil Shang Tsung begs his master Shao Kahn, supreme ruler of Outworld and the surrounding kingdoms, to spare his life. He tells Shao Kahn that if they hold the next Mortal Kombat Tournament in Outworld, the Earthrealm warriors must travel away from home to attend.

Title
Remember playing this as a kid on my cousin's Sega Genesis when I'd visit. My parents would never let me play games like this because they were too violent so I only played this when I visited my aunt's house. It was an okay fighting game, the main thing about this was it was probably the bloodiest and most graphic game for its time and lead to huge censorship and ESRB ratings to materialize. The game really hasn't aged well and is nowhere near as good as the competitors like Street Fighter 2 or King of Fighters. Plus the newer Mortal Kombat games play smoother and are way more graphic than this one. Sure this is probably the best of the older Mortal Kombat games and was an amusing game for its time to see the fatalities, but it felt really limited and it didn't really have a big selection of characters or locations. Yeah the characters in this game are all memorable and classic staples in the franchise but the gameplay just feels like a downgrade next to the other fighting games.

    Definitely a step up from the last entry regarding stages/characters/moves/visuals, but yea the AI will cheat the fuck out of you, which basically ruins the experience for the most part
