really my biggest gripe with the game as a whole is just that the story tries to be more than me1 but isnt any more effective in doing so, so it feels worse than me1's story since its now much more upfront. its the only place where they really couldve stood to do better than the first game and not just more and they kinda failed at that. the setting itself has potential for much better stories/followups to be told... shame thatll probably never happen huh
aside from that its basically everything i wouldve wanted from a sequel to one of my favorite games ever. still just cannot get why people hate on this so much aside from overblowing the extremely ignorable generic openworldisms and not appreciating everything else that it gets extremely right
keep throwing around buzzwords like "soulless" all you want doesnt change how good this game is.
but hey considering the original only has a 3.48 on here, i cant be too upset with this only being 0.40 lower considering the general reception it seems to get
very underrated game. does it hold a candle to the original? no, obviously not, the original is one of the best platformers ever and there's a lot of really subtle brilliance to it that isn't necessarily translated to this. but the core mechanics are as good as ever (and in some ways even improved), the combat sections are way less annoying by virtue of being less present, less required, and the actual combat being infinitely better, and there's a crazy amount of side content. this will never replace the original, but i think it's unfair to deny that it's a great game on its own merits just because of that or because it isn't a perfect sequel
if the first game leaves you wanting more, like it's lacking some things, this feels like it has too much shit for its own good, though the city in this one feels much more real and alive. both games are pretty great. i guess my dream would be a middle ground: open world but without the unnecesary skill trees, grappling hook and collectables
i hate how movement feels in the game. seems like every big budget game now makes moving your character feel like piloting a blimp, faith feels so heavy and slow and every time u have a little bit of drop she grunts really loudly. it sucks.
