Title
The first Metal Gear game feels a bit awkward, its sort of a mix between stealth and action and you are in one base for a majority of the game and the goal is to progress and collect higher level carts until you are able to make it into the Final are and defeat the boss. The story is pretty minimal and not as deep as the later games, the gameplay gets awfully repetitive, and there are some really frustrating parts where you can get stuck and not know what to do or where to go. I mean for a game with such a high bar as the Metal Gear franchise, this definitely is probably the weakest game in the entire series and the sequel would make huge improvements.

Title
METAL GEAR!?!?

As a game concept this was pretty bloody flawless, spectacular game where you had to sneak around enemies and where you could wisely use every single item under the sun, even if it still had moments of haywire logic(at least the radiocom provided its own share of answers). Only thing that's annoying is the use of numbered keycards which gets seriously grating, but one of the most fantastic adventure games of the late 80s if I've ever seen one.

Ignore the NES port as Kojima did not have any involvement in it.

i honestly feel this and the nes one should be separate games with how different they are. very unfair to the score. original is great

watched this video and tbh, I'm kinda split. There are big changes, but they're also so incredibly similar, iunno. don't think I'm for or against the split.

they are literally different games, NES MG1 was commissioned by Konami under the pretext of "make sure you change it up"

Both options are fine according to the site guidelines. No matter the original purpose of Konami. There some degree of reimagining the game but some sections are the same. Splitting is fine if most people wants so, but this port would be no different case to the SNES Prince of Persia for example.

Man, what a wild ride this was (played the Vita version with MGS3). The overall structure of the game is quite solid and the beginning really lulls you into a false sense of confidence (difficult, but still doable). By the second half of the game, I just followed a guide through everything due to the overload of 80s video game moon logic. A remake of this could be really amazing though since the core gameplay is solid.

The MSX and NES version should be seperate, its really not unambigous. Theyre two different things

maybe im insane but i think the MSX version is really great. only hiccup really was in some late-game confusion with how many doors and keycards there are
