eh, depends on how you define narrative. in terms of themes and the way the narrative is told, 2 smokes this and every other game in the series with ease. in terms of actual story and emotional beats, yeah this one is best
if you combined the atmosphere/music of MGS1, the themes/story of MGS2 and the gameplay/bosses of MGS3 you'd have one of the greatest games ever made. by themselves they're all still really good, but not quite the timeless masterpieces they're said to be.
i tried playing this on pc but it's clear that this game was not meant to be played where you can only move 8 directions
also, the save didn't work at all for me and now it's borderline impossible for me to play what is considered one of the best games ever which really sucks.
