I feel like what makes this trilogy great are these things: Music Storyline Music Cars Music Cultural History Music 3 different eras Music How they are independent games but weave together Music
Also the free ride feature to roam around and do whatever you want with a fun car, fun music, and fun guns. Helps to capture some of the hidden parts of the games after the storyline achievements, etc.

Story is fun, if there's nothing to do in the open world outside of the story though it's a game destined to be forgotten. Hate the locked interiors, hate the removal of trains, hate that there's nothing at all to do in the very unused country side. Oh and also the broken boat feature, yeah it's possible to drive boats and with that you can find map texture glitches that throw you under the map. A two year old game should have that fixed by now.. This game needed more care than it got, but isn't that the story of every Hangar 13 Mafia game?

Mediocre remake. The graphics are pretty good, but the gameplay feels at least ten years old. Shooting and driving are somewhat stilted, and despite offering a big open world map, the only thing you can do is go ahead with the main story missions on a linear path. Free-roaming is available after completing the main game, but there isn’t much to do.
The plot is nothing exceptional if you have watched enough mob movies, but it’s arguably one of the best in this genre of video games even after eighteen years. Characters like Sarah could have been expanded a little, though.

Glad that the original Mafia was remade, but despite how wonderful the original is in certain areas, it also must be said that a lot of it has aged like milk, most notably the controls and driving sections. This remake sticks faithful to the same story, and brings in into more modern visuals. Now Hanger 13 is no Rockstar, they capacity as a studio isnt quite top notch AAA visuals, but for the most part they deliver a good looking game by todays standards, enough to cross the uncanny valley in most of the many cutscenes.
Mafia is not an open world game. Instead, its a linear mission based game. there is a side open world mode, but its very shallow, and as such the meat of the game lies within the story told in the mission based mode. Here you follow a cab turned gangsta, in a story that is all too familiar for anyone that has seen a Scorcese movie. Its twists wont surprise anyone, but for the most part its well written with likeable characters, and the drama is entertaining enough.
Gameplay has been vastly standardized to what people expect out of a third person shooter, namely with a cover based system and stealth sections. The gunplay is not great, but its competent, and its not like the game ever demands too much out of your shooting skills on normal difficulty (aside from an infamously hard turret sequence). Stealth sections on the other hand are just bad, and the worst part of the game for sure.
Overal that game failed to impress me. Its a solid linear campaign for sure, with competent gameplay and a gripping story (even if told too many times). The best game of the franchise easily, though the bar isnt hard to clear.

How are the character faces so much worse than the original game in this? lol. pretty mid remake, the original still holds up and this isn't significantly better in any aspect
