It started already with the rotating disc/pizza at the first loading screen. I got a nice nostalgic feeling, but then I started feeling worried... Cause I remembered the loading screens taking ages and my disc was scratched so at any loading screen it could give up. Imagine doing a difficult mission and then your game crashes at the loading screen after... And these loading screens are LONG. We're talking GTA-long. You will wait at loading screens more than you will play the game. That is why I never made it to the end of this game. I loved starting this game but I always ended up ragequitting.
When it comes to the game itself, it starts out nicely. Nice and fun, albeit short, introduction to the characters and the world. You deliver pizzas to be able to build a home. You accidentally let the town evil mastermind out of prison and he steals some kind of book and when he rips out the pages from it and scatter them to the wind, he subsequently destroys all the buildings in the town. They're connected to the pages by lego magic or something. Some of the pages end up all over your island some inside portals that lead to other islands with different themes. A medieval one and an adventurer one.. So far, so good.
Unfortunately the game just gets worse and worse as it goes on. You start to realize that some missions are way harder than others. Many of them are bugged and barely functional, while others simply make no sense. The cutscenes start to make less and less sense and they become fewer and fewer as well. They really run out of ideas or they ran out of time/money. The last half of the game feels extremely unfinished.
I found myself left without instructions in between missions a handful of times and I had to run around all over the island to try to trigger a scene. And even if you DID get instructions for your next mission, if you decide to call it a day and pick it up another day.... you better remember your mission cause there is no mission log and no one you can ask to remind you. You'll be running around trying to trigger a scene yet again...
So.. you have no mission log, no indicator/arrow to point anything out, no map, the guy who gives you your missions is always walking around the island and once he has given you instructions, he will not say another word about it.
One time when I loaded up my save, several things were invisible, the music was gone and I had to find a house that I couldn't see. I remember this being a problem even 10 years ago on my windows 98...
All in all, the game has a lot of promise and is ripe for a remake but they're gonna have to expand on it. Add more islands, make a more coherent story and especially ending.

This game is also pretty nostalgic, as a kid I loved legos, my family would always by me legos at the store when we went and from Christmas I'd always get legos for presents, I had at least 100 lego sets as a kid, and of course a couple of lego video games like this. The funny thing is I never played the first Lego Island. This is a pretty odd game, it plays like an open World adventure where you do basic tasks for people, mainly delivering pizzas and then this generic bad guy causes shit to go wrong and you have to stop the bad guy so travel between different time periods and do random mini games. Some of these games are just so random and silly like theres one where you joust with knights, another where you navigate through asteroids in space. The mini games are pretty poorly designed and often frustrating. Lego Island runs pretty bad, the controls and character movement just feel stiff and the platforming is pretty bad. Nothing really stands out either, there are like 2 or 3 segments of this game I remember, it just feels so generic. Yeah this game brings back some nostalgia, but its one of those really bad games with a bad story with bad voice acting, bad gameplay, bad controls, and it has little redeeming qualities. I'd rather play through every post Lego Star Wars game then play these older Lego games.

was an improvement over its predecessor, but still poor. the rotating pizza of death (the loading screens) were incredibly slow - to the point where it was just comical.
