Join the Chase! In LEGO® CITY Undercover, play as Chase McCain, a police officer who's been tasked with going undercover to hunt down the notorious – and recently escaped – criminal Rex Fury and putting an end to his city-wide crime wave.
It's a Lego game. It's fun. I like how it's an open world, that's pretty neat. I guess if you're a parent and want a kid friendly GTA alternative for your child, this is a fantastic option. The only major issue is that the load times on this game are really awful. It takes like a full minute of just sitting in a loading screen before you can even enter a mission. Also, it doesn't run great, lots of moments where the framerate drops for no apparent reason.

The comedy is reasonably well-written, and the open world has a fairly good dynamic to it, with a sort of Metroidvania bent locking collectibles and upgrades behind equipment as you explore the city and its off-shoots. The prison island especially reminded me of Stilwater. But uh, this ain't no Saints Row. Bringing a typical Lego experience back to single player only handily shows how shallow, repetitive, easy and uninvolving the gameplay is, with very rote mechanics and design to everything and no abstract thinking allowed. Combined with the typical open-world woes of the nothing while travelling between missions makes for a boring game.

impressive for a 2012 Wii U exclusive (originally). very witty writing and story , the non-hub world levels (i like to just call them dungeons) are very fun. although there's time i think "no way i'm stun locked in a children's game" but eventually i find where to go. soooo many collectables
