Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Wish this would get remastered

Rare case of high quality storytelling and style not being enough to completely make you overlook how poorly the actual gameplay has aged.

Didn't find the puzzles to be difficult at all but it took me a while to understand what to do during the Dumah fight. And yeah, the game's much more about atmosphere, story and cutscenes than gameplay (same thing applies to Blood Omen and SR2); didn't like it too much at first but it's been growing on me since my second playthrough.

I think the intro of this game is badass, but everything else after that is a deep dive into mediocrity away from the greatness of the first game. A lot of the gameplay is just a subpar Tomb Raider clone and it pains me to say this because I loved the game at the time and I do think some things about it like the music and writing were above average for the time.

Game's genius. I understand the lower rating because the mechanics havent aged gracefully but it personally does not matter to me.
