Somehow - I don't know how... but Konami managed to make a racing experience more streamlined than the Sega racing hits such as Hang On, and even predates Out Run by a whole year.

Konami GT places you behind the car's dashboard, and driving, taking turns and overtaking opponents is surprisingly smooth and easy, although you will slow to a crawl if you drive along the edge of the road. The one major caveat is that the game has a tight fuel limit, and you can replenish fuel by getting the bonuses that appear on the road, which can be a daunting task if you let just a single step of the operation slip.
