It's funny, after playing it on release I thought it was kinda forgettable, maybe because the main campaign is pretty brief compared to Return to Dream Land, but going back to it now there's a lot of really good stuff in here. Dededetour is fantastic, the final bosses are all great, and even though Hypernova isn't really all that interesting from a mechanical standpoint, I can't pretend they don't come up with some really creative and entertaining scenarios to use it in. The visual of those giant pipe eels getting slurped into Kirby's tiny body might be one of the most comical and absurd things I've ever seen in a 3D game.
5-6 years ago, I used to go to a youth center every day after school because they were literally built next to each other. Lovely place. Good memories.
There was a locker that contained all of the lost and found things. For whatever reason, I was very entertained by seeing what things were in there and what new things appeared. I checked it each time I went.
Every day, for a long time....I saw this cartridge in there. Just on the bottom of the locker amongst the jackets and lunchboxes and other things kids and adolescents would lose.
Every day. For a long time (years).
I took it. I still have it with me. I don't have a 3ds. Never have. I'm interested in buying one not only for the games it has, but I'd really like to see what's been sitting on the cartridge for so long.
this game doesnt really go as joyfully wild as robobot but i think the 3ds kirby games are the most consistently strong tbh the foreground/background is actually really fun in a level context (though not for bosses and im glad they learned that lesson lol) and a special shoutout to that soundtrack ❤️❤️
