Why the hell was this game linear? Every new idea it had would have fit in perfectly to an Amazing Mirror structure - spontaneous chase sequences with the Squeaks, secret base structures that you can stumble upon and raid for treasure, the ability to save copy abilities to make returning to unsolved puzzles more convenient, unlocking new powers for copy abilities; they even have a progress gate where you need to have found all the Star Seals, which feel like they should have been comparable to the mirror shards, but instead you just stumble on them randomly in various levels with no rhyme or reason. This could have been an even better metroidvania than Mirror, but as it stands this is easily the weakest linear Kirby game to me because they just didn't explore any of the ideas they introduced.
So many reused assets from the GBA Kirby games, it almost feels like a theoretical expansion for Nightmare in Dreamland. With that said, it likewise is still good enough.
