Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

This was my first Kirby game, and only after I've finished I realised it was a remake from an original NES game. That explains a few things: the controls feel floaty and imprecise, the gameplay is simplistic and the levels aren't very interesting.
However, the graphics are quite impressive for a GBA game, and it can be finished in about 2 hours.

This and Amazing Mirror have the tightest play control in the whole series, but overall I wish this game had been more. The Extra mode is still half-assed and barely worth including, but the fact that the actually worthwhile Meta Knightmare is locked behind it now means that trudging through it is necessary to get everything the game has to offer. I get that they were going for a more faithful kind of remake, but I can't help feeling like this game would have been a lot better if it had the full Super Star movesets for each ability, instead of keeping them all as barebones as in the original. Not to mention it's not a perfectly faithful remake anyway, since it missed out on things like the rotating Butter Building level. Still fun as hell to play through, but feels a little like a lateral move from the NES game instead of a strict upgrade.

This game really didnt age well for me in comparison to other kirby games, there's too many moments that are annoying when it comes to the level design and not any real anything memorable. It's not really the remake's fault just the original design doesn't really hold up well nowadays to me, even if it was an innovative entry for the series

Just replayed this for the first time in many many years. Had no idea that Extra mode existed as a kid, just beat that and starting on Meta Knightmare edition. Which I also had no idea existed.
The backgrounds in this game are amazing, and I fell in love with it all over again. Very short game, but hits all the right notes. Bumping rating from a 4.5 to 5.

Good but too many moments were enemies come out of nowhere that makes it quite frustrating on first playthrough
