This feels like kind of a weird mix between Borderlands and Outer Worlds, especially its quirky sense of humor. This actually was better than I expected, its a pretty short open World exploration game in space where you get new powers and go between 3 different main areas, gathering resources. The fun part of this game was collecting and exploring the items that increased my health. The story was pretty generic and forgettable, and the boss fights were fun. The regular enemies in this game were kind of bland and a lot of enemies in this were just reskins of other enemies. The combat in this game is kind of annoying outside the bosses and just got frustrating, especially early on when my health wasn't upgraded. I think Journey shines best when exploring and finding upgrades and then getting the upgrades to further explore. The later areas area little more frustrating since they have some platforming which is very hit or miss in first person and are a lot smaller than the first area. But for the most part this game did exceed my expectations, even with its generic enemy design, bad combat, and forgettable story. Its a pretty short game and without doing the side stuff or exploring fully can be beaten around 10 hours or less, with exploring I think I beat it in 15 hours. Also there is really no motivation to gather everything because after you get so many collectibles your health can no longer upgrade anymore so you don't even get anything for getting all the health upgrades, which there are a total of 100. Journey has some cool ideas, but I just feel like it didn't have a big enough budget or development team to do a lot so it just feels like it is limited and like there should be more to it. If this got a sequel and they doubled the size and improved the gun combat and variety of enemies, it could be on par with Borderlands of Outer Worlds, but it falls short.

pretty fun comedy driven metroidvania, with unfortunatly frustrating level design. Im also not sure that going first person was the best choice for a game so dependent on platforming
