Idol Hakkenden is a very silly and enjoyable graphic adventure game for the NES that received two separate translations in 2018 and 2020 on ROMhacking.net. It's hard to gauge which one is more apt (I've only played the 2020 version which aimed to have a translation that would fit the model of an NES game released in the late 1980s) but also have it match the tone of the Japanese game without just being directly translated.
The puzzles in it are relatively simple but enough to make it feel like you aren't just menuing forever (the game is very short and can be beaten in an hour or two) but it exceeds in its humour and charms. (On investigating areas, you don't just look, talk, and use items, but you can also Sing, Dance, Smile and Play Dumb). In a mild Dragon Quest vibe, you can also chat with different friends who tag along and some are more useful than others.
The game is wacky but in a properly humorous way that makes you not feel creepy about playing a game tagged "Idol". It's probably less explicit than let's say, an episode of Sailor Moon.
It is a great game by Natsume who made several far better than average games from this era that is so often overlooked by people who just want to play Zelda for the fortieth time. If you want to look into simple, funny and amusing adventure games from this era, I highly recommend this one.
