Hitman: World of Assassination

Whether this counts as a game all its own is dubious so I won't be surprised or sad if this entry disappears from Glitchwave, but whatever you wanna call it, the World Of Assassination collection, putting all the new Hitman games into one trilogy, might make for one of the best games of the past decade. Sometimes stodgy and janky, bad always-online requirements and *some* recycled content but mostly gets an insane amount of mileage out of its unique concept with bold, brazen level design that rewards concentration with a lush attention to detail and a liberating sense of openness and opportunity to every mission. Putting the story altogether back-to-back highlights the baffling cutscene production as the series goes on, but also heightens the stakes and highlights the damn decent spy fiction going on, with excellent use of understated themes of class warfare, environmentalism and the juxtaposition of 47's anti-hero morality with the white-collar evil of everyone you kill. Throw in a frustrating but addicting roguelike mode in Freelancer and you have a truly endless content machine that manages to feel fresh almost every time. Were it not for the DRM, it would be one of the few examples of a singleplayer experience that keeps on giving with no strings attached.

I have the PS5 version of the game and I’ve played through all three chapters. I absolutely enjoyed my time playing this game and it was extremely rewarding once you execute a hit on a target. The story is very interesting and the worlds this game paints are beautiful.
