Met my expectations rather than exceeding them. Hitman 3 is a satisfying end to the trilogy but not really as good as 2, mostly just because the same pieces are all still there but sanded off a little. The maps are a bit smaller, still have lots of environmental storytelling going on but overall less to do in each, and the story of 2 is mostly just continued instead of properly expanded upon, though it still remains compelling spy fiction with an anti-corporate elite stance. Even the one entirely linear level was still better than the entirety of Absolution.

On Wikipedia, HITMAN III & MGSV are both stated to be one of the greatest stealth games of all-time. I'd say almost, not quite, but close enough.

As a whole, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of development between 1,2,3 - but they work really well as a single package. Just don't expect a big jump in quality between them.
This one had some great levels.
I'm mixed on the levels that factor more into the story - they feel less like replayable sandbox missions. Not quite linear, but heading in that direction.
Overall a fantastic series that I regret waiting so long to finally check out!

Hitman is the only game of it's kind, a sandbox with vast, meticulous levels where you can kill just about anyone in just about any way you like. I've always wondered: why don't other studios attempt to one-up Hitman? And then I played Hitman III, and suddenly became very aware of why nobody tries to top ioi.

Interesting that a rebooted series on this site has a much higher rating than the original run of games. I need to check out these "World of Assassination" games.
The WOA trilogy took the formula first introduced properly in Blood Money and then massively built on top of it, expanding on the possibilities of that game system. Add to this a pretty good story with decent writing and you're set, even if the always online and bizarre handling of previously owned content were glaring issues at launch.
Damn that last level is really underwhelming. I know it's meant to be an epilogue and not a full blown level but it plays like a bad Absolution mission. Still it doesn't impact my view of the game that much. I really loved the rest of the maps and the game as a whole actually achieves what Absolution was supposed to be, mixing more cinematic structure of missions with the sandbox formula. I think I still prefer the level design in Hitman 2 in terms of replayability but I appreciate how unique and memorable all the main levels in this are.
Well, if you think about it. Most of Hitman games tried to end on a more streamlined levels with action approach. I do believe that Contracts is the one that balanced it right between a cinematic action finale and a Hitman type of playground if we count WOA as it's own mo.nolith game in the series, which it is now.
