High on Life

High on Life is a FPS with metroidvania elements for those that enjoy the sort of immature humour found in Rick and Morty. I watched the first season of the show and enjoyed it, and as such I also got a few chuckles out of this game. This sort of humour is best taken in small doses though, as if left running it will really try your pacience with gags that run too long. There are a few memorable gags for such, again nothing thats comedy gold, but I do find myself enjoying this type of low brow humour taken in short bursts. I dont think I have a game session with this game that lasted over an hour.

As an FPS, its rather basic but at least it works. It offers a decent array of weapons, each with a secondary firepower on cooldown. That incentivizes weapons swiching to use that secondary attack, even if the difficulty never really rises to the point in which that is requiered. There is a decent rooster of enemies, definitly more geared towards being bullet sponges, but the combat is still impactful for the most part.

The game has some metroidvania elements if you want to backtrack to previous levels in search of treasure chests, but these all feel rather inconsequencial in a game that is already pretty easy for the most part.

Overall its a solid title, that is bound to divide the players concerning its type of humour. As an FPS its serviceable.

I didn't know this game existed until I saw a meme about it several days after it was out. I saw it was on Game Pass and had Justin Roiland's Voice so had to play. It definitely had one of the best introductions ever, it's just a shame that intro minigame wasn't available after that. The characters are all pretty awesome. The instructions were a bit indirect at times but it wasn't a big issue. Obviously as a new game, it has a handful of bugs but nothing really bothered me except when I had to reload like two times to make progress. I thought it was probably the funniest game I have played, not that I play comedy games really but it was hilarious. The loading screens were possibly the worst ones ever, maybe worse than GTA V's. My main issue was the ending. It came WAYYYY too soon, I think the game should have been like twice as long. I was beyond disappointed with how it ended, no important characters even died, bounty hunter never found his parents, and his sister isn't even at the house when I return from saving the world???? It was so frustrating, I just really hope they expand the game's story eventually. It would have easily been one of my favorite games if not for the ending.
