Title
If this game was more polished and more balanced, it would be as good as Heroes 3. The map editor is extremely powerful and I like the gameplay changes overall. Town screens and creatures lack some character, vampires + GM necromancy are ridiculously OP, AI cheats but is easy to beat anyway... And yet, I like it, there's still lots of interesting and good new ideas and mechanics.

I know it is not a popular opinion but this is my favourite HOMM: it puts more emphasis on heroes instead of troops, moving it closer to RPG adventure while not losing strategy completely, and I also liked the writing in the campaigns.
