Title
I usually give these more intentionally 'cinematic' games (graphic adventures, interactive movies and such) some shit cause they're more often than not very ostentatiously and tastelessly executed, and so it makes sense that many don't seem to dig the works of Quantic Dream, but whether or not you mind games being more movie-esque, David Cage at least knows what he's doing. I like my good old Mystery/Thriller/Drama films as much as the next movie fan, and Heavy Rain gives off the same kinda feel. You could argue against the controls, but I think they work for this game in particular. It's definitely a strong advancement from Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, which is also very good despite being dated for its sixth gen console era.

    i think about the twist is a massive plot hole that fails entirely because of the game mechanics, and how fixing this means you could easily salvage and reframe this into something way more interesting
    if you can read the characters thoughts, how do your not know that Shelby is the killer considering he literally visits the victims? why not reveal he is the killer and put you in the situation of "how should i play this killer?"

    Still appalling on multiple fronts almost fifteen years later, but the noticeably French-sounding ""Americans"" that make much of the cast is both avoidable + idiotic. Did they just not have the money to cast + pay ex-pat actors living in Europe? (Or brits/swedes who could handle accents.) David Cage had to include his fucking kids?!
