Its obviously very inpired by the modern XCOM, except with a western and supernatural twist on the formula. Instead of the base building you have text adventure segments, similar to the ones found in The Banner Saga and Heroes of might and magic. Its really well written, and it allows for some search for better items and skills, which affest the actual gameplay a lot.
In terms of the actual battles i really enjoy what they did with the cover systems, making flanking much more rewarding. Each character also has special abilities that can turn the tide of battle. I like the way that the game handled its probability system, rewarding player movement instead of sticking to the same piece of cover. Good level design and visuals as well.
The game is actually divided into many short campaigns, and whose outcomes will in turn unlock the next campaign according to certain story choices. Each campaign often has very different objectives and characters, making the game quite a diverse experience.
Very solid title, not just because of the tactical gameplay but also because of the uniqueness of the campaign design and setting.
