The disparity between the good levels and bad levels are far more severe than I remember. The game jumps between some of the best levels of any first-person shooter to legitimately really bad ones. "The Library" is typically the focus of most ire, though I feel the issues with that level is evident throughout many others (specifically regarding size and repetition).
It's a good demonstration of the affects of nostalgia as I only remembered the good bits, of which there are many, though conveniently I forgot about the bad. I imagine this average score would be much lower if everyone rating had played the game more recently, though maybe that's presumptuous as there's still a lot to love about CE.
i didn't grow up with this game so maybe i'm being too hard on it but the level design feels extremely Dookie Butt to me on most of the levels. i also cannot give a shit about the story
ngl i feel the same way about the video game section of RYM as others do about the music/movie sections in the sense that the charts are pretentious and tend to underrate masterpieces. like why the fuck are none of the halo games in the top 100 cmon now
^ Nailed it. A quicker way to explain it IMO would be merely pointing out that RYM/Glitchwave has an unmistakable subset of hipsters/snobs within it's community, that alone is a valid reason not to trust these scores if all you want is a fun game. But whether you're using this site or some other one you should be judging games for yourself anyway.
