Ex-criminal Michael de Santa wants to take it easy after living a lifetime of crime in his mansion at Los Santos, but his strained relationship with his family forces him to return to vice. While attempting to get away from his family, Michael encounters a former hoodlum named Franklin Clinton, and despite a tense first encounter, they formed a bond as partners in crime. Later, Michael's psychotic old friend Trevor Philips joins Franklin and Michael in their heists, and the three of them will attempt to take over Los Santos by any means necessary.

Taking a secret deal with Dave, an agent from the FIB, Michael De Santa retires from the life of crime. But when he catches his wife cheating on him, he destroys a house belonging to the drug lord Martin Madrazo. He takes on one last heist to pay off Madrazo's debt with Franklin Clinton, the man who tried to repossess his son's car. But this gets Michael the attention of two people. Dave, as he uses their now broken deal as leverage to get Michael and his crew to carry out several tasks for the FIB, and Trevor, his psychotic old partner in crime who presumed Michael died after a heist went wrong nine years ago.
Their best narrative by far. Always needed more, I need to play it on next console to really know anything.
It's probably one of the best games ever made or the best game ever made (considering how much money it's made through online) but personally I've just never played the next gen version, which I will soon do.
Iconic characters, but as usual I want the fun random chaos to be worth a little more in the game. I wish we had destructible environments, I want to play my own music over the radio (I forget if I ever figured out how to do that), I want the deaths of pedestrians to mean a little bit more.
But this was 2013. Hopes are high for GTA 6 but the studio is starting to lose a few people so I predict that its development hasn't been so rosy. We'll see.
Story A+, gameplay B+, cars good feel, game atmosphere great feel, but as always I'm greedy and want more out of the missions. There's just never enough for me to do outside of missions and missions never hit as much as I want. Sometimes I want more difficulty, I forget if that was an option.
Never played online. I been missing out? Seems like I guess.

This is by far the best game in the Grand theft auto franchise, mainly because we now have three protagonists to play as with each of them having a compelling storyline that intertwine with each other flawlessly.
It does suffer from the same problems the other games in the franchise have, namely that plot progression tends to meander as the game goes on. That's what stops this from being a perfect game as here it can be confusing as to which of the three protagonists needs to be at a location for a mission to start. This is also a nitpick that can make me come off as woke to some, but I feel Mike is way less interesting than Franklin and ESPECIALLY Trevor who are both much more fleshed out than he is as the game progresses. Both Frank and Trevor seen to have more activities they can do in exchange for most of the main missions having Mike as the lead, suggesting he is the main protagonist of the game overall. This is a minor issue as the activities all three men can take part of are all engaging and fun.
It's a game worth your time, I just wish it had a more streamlined story and that either Trevor or Frank was the main protagonist over Mike.

I spent a lot of time driving around the map and exploring, at first it's quite exciting but it gets old real fast, there's nothing to do! Sure maybe you could find all the hidden items for the UFO guy or something but thats about it, big empty map, sucks your soul dry. And the damage physics, I will admit that it's better than most car games, but that still doesnt change the fact that vehicle in GTA 5 are made out of titanium, not enough deformation physics but whatever I can overlook that.
The radio stations are good though

I'll talk about the single player only since that's the one I've played. First of all, It's a big-budget GTA game, obviously it's one of the greatest open world games ever created. Characters have a lot of personality, the dialogue (except when they're in a car) is good, some of the mission setups are great, world is massive and so is the game, radio is great and the driving is fun.
But Old GTA games have all this and a lot more as well, what makes this more playable is just that it's the new one with more high definition graphics and maybe the online mode.
The more GTA has gone towards realism the less fun and imaginative it has become, I loved the hovering items and money after someone dies, I loved that pink highlighted area near mission locations indicating where to go next, I loved barbers making your hairs and beards look however you want, I loved side hustles like vigilante missions, I loved the more crazy, animated and stylised NPCs, I loved the overall themes, aesthetics and quirks of the PS2 titles, namely Vice City and San Andreas. Only boring ideas like buying real estate or sodas to drink are retained here. I hate how stunts are done now, the slow-mo is terrible, taxi side hustle isn't just getting into any taxi anymore, you have to get that job like in the real world. Even the arcade games within GTA were better before.
Now on the bigger negatives, this game honestly has among the most personality devoid environment and world setting in a GTA game since GTA3 came out. Big expressways and highways inspired from LA do make for more driving space but looks and feels like the least imaginative and fun world ever, which makes me thing LA is definitely the worst city in US. This was the least I enjoyed exploring the world in any 3D GTA game ever.
This game is full of more filler missions than ever just like GTA 4, just drive to locations and drive some more then again. If not that it's time-limited shootout missions against gangs, hillbillies and rednecks, some boring sniper missions. There's this guy who'll only give hunting missions to you, but hunting is awful here, this isn't some RDR2 level stuff, it always feels like a waste of time. There's rarely any fun context to its missions, so empty
Compared to older titles, hand-to-hand combat is worse than before, NPC violence is boring, clothing is boring, most vehicles are boring, haircuts are boring, driving over NPCs isn't as fun too, stripers are boring, all the fun little ideas and quirks of previous titles are far gone, the damn Police chases are boring too.
It doesn't further itself in any way when it comes to side-missions, other than triathlons and tennis mini-game everything this game does can be traced back to ideas of previous game that were done worse here. As someone who has played all 3D GTA games ever this was very annoying as I felt I've played most missions a thousand times.
In no way this game as compared to past GTA titles is better, other than its map and more detailed world except the details in previous games were more fun.

Never got around completing the story mode but feel in love with the online one ever since Epic Games gave it away for free that one time.
Even if I played at a really shitty resolution, everything still looked really cool.
Driving in this game felt just as amazing in day 100+ as it felt in day 1, messing with randoms never gets old, car meets, jet fights etc.
But, it's getting kind of old now, and I only open it for social aspects, cause socializing is pretty easy in this game. I feel like it's dying even if it's probably not. I don't think Rockstar has a plan except for throwing more money at players for funzies that lasts only a little while, I'm talking about the Cayo Perico Heist which was a pretty fun but no one would do it for a third time if it didn't make so much money. Every heist prep feels like a drag, no one thinks those are fun.
In the end, the only fun stuff you can do is grief, something I definitely don't do.
It's been a while since I've opened it but I'm really excited to start it again once I buy a nice PC,
6/10 overall. (Took 2 points off for the amount of modders)

Yeah I have no idea how else to put it, I'm currently 20/69 on main missions and I just cannot believe how... boring the game is. Not really sure why. Something about the character progression, or the city layout, or the side activities is just... wrong. I had tons of fun with San Andreas quite recently, but cannot really get into this one at all.
On the one hand it’s one of the most immersive and impressive worlds in the history of the medium, on the other hand I just kinda feel like the writing and overall attitude is so condescending and annoying that I never really want to play it
