Title
Getting over is more like getting involved in a certain kind of mindstate which is reasonably peculiar to casual gamers. High-budget games set the difficulty trend in gaming and they try to be easy, supporting, and motivating in many ways such as minimaps, waypoint indicators, and fast travel due to improving their accessibility to the masses. Getting over is the exact opposite of this approach. It constantly tries to break you with its tight level design, demotivational narration, and clearing your progress in the middle of your struggle to climb, leaving you nothing but frustration. It's like the harsh noise or black metal equivalent of a game design, it just assaults the player instead of being playful and fun. But not in a way that Syobon Action does, it's fair and balanced which makes every fault yours in your way to the top and presumably the bottom of the mountain.

As Foddy said, it's a game for certain people who I believe don't like to be taken by the hand to hurt them by exposing their capabilities to themselves, leaving a scar that can't be fixed by loading a game save. The situation that the player is in makes this game so unique as mentioned above, it particularly needs attention by game designers foremost. However, I wouldn't and I did not recommend this game to any of my friends nor family because not all of us are interested in taking lessons by hurting ourselves. Foddy abuses the psychological phenomenon to overcome obstacles through a video game and he's very upfront about his attitude and the game he made so there is no way for me to hate it but to embrace it as an art medium through play. It's always rewarding to overcome an obstacle whether it's physical or not. The abstraction of the theme satisfies this need by transforming the obstacles into yours. Instead of exploring the game's world, the player is left alone with his world and a bunch of familiar objects that constantly reminds him of the reality he's facing every day.

Game scholars should also watch this GDC talk about putting your name on the title like Sid Meier to understand what Foddy tries to manage by doing it. Without spoilers, the ending is built in a similar way to this approach. Human interaction is way easier within the technology we have but oddly enough we lack that most. Foddy suggests multiple solutions for it in this release so it's worth the struggle.

Title
Getting Over It With Bennet Foddy set out on destroying my ego, and by doing so it gave me a chance to understand and relate to Foddy's thoughts with humility.

It was a refreshing breath of fresh air to experience a game- or any media- intentionally using frustration.
The movement is simple, fun, and emergent, and the game is almost always transparent with the player.
I feel that the games main flaws are the two areas which lack the same transparency as the rest of the game, and some inaccessibility as a result of its intentional unapproachability.

The game covered three main themes:
- How to respond to losing progress and starting over?
- Can frustration be used positively?
- Why bother making unapproachable content?
Foddy makes clever use of all aspects of the medium: various language devices, gameplay mechanics, audio, and visuals, to connect all of these themes into a one story.

Overall, this game has landed itself as one of, if not my favourite games.

Title
A Frustration-Fueled Triumph: Getting Over It Review
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is an unconventional and polarizing game that takes players on a journey of patience, perseverance, and self-discovery. Created by Bennett Foddy, this game stands as a testament to the power of frustration and the thrill of overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges.

At first glance, Getting Over It appears deceptively simple – you control a man stuck in a cauldron, armed with nothing more than a sledgehammer. Your objective? To scale a mountain of obstacles, pitfalls, and precarious ledges using only this sledgehammer for propulsion. The controls, however, quickly reveal their devilish complexity, turning what seems straightforward into an exercise in deliberate, calculated movements.

The game's visuals are minimalistic yet effective, with a striking contrast between the stark, barren landscape and the protagonist's eccentric appearance. The physics engine, though occasionally infuriating, adds a sense of realism to the mechanics, making each movement feel uniquely impactful.

But it's the game's psychological aspect that truly sets it apart. Getting Over It is a test of one's patience and mental resilience. The journey is not about reaching the summit, but about confronting failure, adapting to setbacks, and embracing the process of improvement. The experience of repeatedly falling down the mountain, losing hours of progress, and grappling with the tantalizing allure of success makes success all the more satisfying.

Bennett Foddy's narrative commentary serves as both motivation and mockery. His philosophical monologues and insightful anecdotes can be inspiring, consoling, or maddening – often all at once. The combination of his words with the gameplay creates a unique emotional rollercoaster, ranging from a triumphant high when conquering a difficult section to a demoralizing low after a particularly unfortunate slip.

However, http://gettingoveritapks.com/ is not without its shortcomings. Its deliberately frustrating design may alienate some players who seek a more traditional gaming experience. The high difficulty level can lead to extreme frustration, potentially driving players away before they fully appreciate the underlying message.

In conclusion, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is an exceptional experience that will either be adored or loathed depending on the player's tolerance for frustration and their willingness to embrace the game's unconventional nature. It's a game that defies conventions, offering a unique blend of challenge and introspection. If you're prepared to face the emotional gauntlet and embrace the lessons it offers, Getting Over It has the potential to be a deeply rewarding and memorable journey.

Title
You Do Most of the Work
I should preface this review by saying I've beaten this game 42 times. My best time is under 10 minutes. This game is good, but its posturing as some kind of strange miracle is what puts me off of it after further thought. It's built to be frustrating yet consistent, and it succeeds just fine, with the added monologue alternating between hit and miss.

Most of the value of this game comes from the anxieties and emotions that you bring to it. Climbing the mountain helped me detach myself from the idea of success and made me less prone to be frustrated after failure. It's a game about getting rid of the idea of perfection being part of success, and that was a powerful message for me, but it's hard to really give Getting Over It all of that credit. Any sufficiently difficult challenge could do the same thing. Learning to draw for the first time, for example, gave me a similar feeling - and I did that before I played this game.

Still, it's a cool idea that's explored in a way that pushes the bounds of what games can do (if only by a little). Paired with the constant ups and downs are Bennett Foddy's verbal comments, which alternate between being poignant thoughts about the life cycle of value on the internet and being placid, watery complaints about games being "too easy these days" that are far too familiar to anybody who plays modern games and has a functioning pair of eardrums.

The game will occasionally play some classic blues music when you fall a long way, which is nice. At the end of the day, what you're buying is a mountain and a dude with a hammer. The emotional message is whatever you bring to it. It's relieving, but it doesn't make me feel a need to give Foddy an excess of credit for a bunch of pre-existing assets mushed into the shape of a life lesson.

Title
Not Actually Ragebait
Forget this game's reputation— In my experience, this is one of the most serene, zen games I have played to date. Don't get me wrong, it is very difficult when you first pick it up, but it invites you to cultivate a relaxed, positive relationship with difficulty and with failure. Bennett's gentle encouragement, the soft jazz piano and blues standards in the background, and the distinct sense that there is no threat to the player or rush to get to the top all help contribute to this sense of calm. The naturalistic, thrown-together feeling of the environment also produces this sense that you're not building something which was "designed" per se, but that you're climbing a real world mountain, or testing yourself to go as far out of bounds as you can before something breaks. The challenge becomes personal in this sense: no designer is asking you to climb the mountain, you simply have to decide if it's something that you want to accomplish for yourself.

This calm persistence and self-motivation that the game teaches is simple, but one which is often undersold in gaming, and one that is easily best shown through the medium of gaming. I urge people who are turned off by the label of rage game to give this a try; it is incredibly rewarding for those who are willing to learn from it.

Such a good game. It's difficult, but never feels unfair. Is it weird I actually felt motivated by Bennett Foddy's comments? They're somehow reassuring and not, like, passive-aggressive or mocking as I've sometimes read.
I couldn't really finish it, so I just watched how it ends on YouTube. But hey, that's culture too.

I feel like this is an example of a game that was severely misrepresented by its community. Its literally a game about learning to be calm and triumphant despite failure and setbacks, and people turned it into a game about raging and yelling when you fall, because that's what can get put into compilations, and thats what will get you views.
Its hilarious even, that Bennet foddy explicitly calls out garbage sludge like that in the game, of how people discard art just so they can have something easy and entertaining in the moment, and then Streamers cried about him being annoying and ignored everything he said
